Sort order. Start your review of Busted Will Trent, 6. Will Trent stops by a convenience store while on his way to his undercover assignment and is delayed by a slow working frozen coke machine. All hell breaks loose when a man with a rifle comes in to rob the store.
Next thing you know, one man is dead, two are in the hospital and Will, Faith and Amanda are stuck with a bunch of lying witnesses and participants as they try to sort out what happened really. Lots of misdirection and real characters but it was a very interesting case.
It's a very shor Will Trent stops by a convenience store while on his way to his undercover assignment and is delayed by a slow working frozen coke machine. It's a very short story but as usual is full of clever intrigue and good police work by the three. Kathleen Early narrates it perfectly. View all 4 comments. I had to sit around and wait; so I decided to make it worth while. The only problem is now the wait is over and I need more Trent Apr 29, Hollis rated it liked it Shelves: finished-in-april , men-in-uniform , swoony-crush-worthy-boys , reads , a-smattering-of-lols , overdrive , not-a-bunch-of-twenty-somethings , novellas , best-of-the-book-boyfriends , contemporary. This novella was mostly unbelievable hilarious ridiculousness. But it was fun to watch it spin out. Sucked into Will's world all over again.
The mystery was addictive as usual, even with it just being a novella. I wish they would go back to Natalie Ross' narration. Not thrilled with Kathleen Early's performance in the books so far.
She doesn't even give Will a Southern accent. Just a pretty bland reading, IMO. Mar 15, Amanda rated it it was amazing Shelves: reads. Busted by Karin Slaughter is technically book 6. It is a novella, so this will be a short review. Well, what is my sweet Will Trent up to now? He is currently undercover, well on his way to assignment to infiltrate a corrupt town.
He stops at a store to get an ICEE. No, he does not. That is because the store gets shot-up and Will follows the criminal in pursuit. However, this book is 68 pages of nonstop action. Will even gets a little fast and furious action.
Could Karin Slaughter make this a typical convenience store robbery? Of course not. This is full of misdirection! As always, it is just phenomenal and I am utterly addicted. I am now picking up book 7, Unseen. I need to go now. This novella gets 5 out of 5 stars! Jun 14, Kim rated it liked it Shelves: kindle , crime-fiction. I like Karin Slaughter's Will Trent series. Slaughter's novels aren't great literature, but her writing is good, her characters are interesting and she tells a good story.
Crime fiction has long been my choice for fluffy, escapist reading and Slaughter is one of the few contemporary American crime fiction writers whose works I enjoy. There's every chance I'll tire of the series at some point - as I have of other crime fiction series - but at the moment I'm a fan. That said, I'm not a fan of this particular work, which is more an advertisement for the next book in the series than anything else. I presume that in the e-book publishing world, a teaser short story or novella with an extract from the next novel in a series is a successful marketing strategy.
However, it's a marketing strategy I can live without. Apart from the extraordinary implausibility of the plot, there's nothing inherently wrong with the novella, but I'm cross with myself for having paid to download what is essentially an advertisement. It won't stop me from reading the next novel in the series, but I'm going to resist falling for this strategy again. May 21, Marianne rated it it was amazing. While waiting to buy a frozen coke on his way to an undercover job in Macon, Will somehow gets involved in a situation that attracts town, county and state police as well as bringing down upon him the wrath of his boss Amanda.
Slaughter manages to pack quite a bit into this one: a gas station hold-up, some motorcycle stunt riding, missing cash, a possible hostage situation and a very nasty old woman.

I had to really pay attention to the names of the characters because there were quite a few in the same place. A robbery is taking place and Will Trent is trapped inside there witnessing everything.
