Shusterman, Pra Although known as an American philosopher, I was not academically trained in America; my philosophical education was more European in style — first at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and then at Oxford. Third, the book was in fact published in Europe before it appeared in English. The original English version was not released by Blackwell until April in Britain and elsewhere in Europe ; and the American publication date was much later, since copies did not get there before June. Furthermore, of the fourteen languages into which the book is now translated, eleven of them are European.

Koczanowicz, Dorota Overview. Publication Timeline. Most widely held works by Dorota Koczanowicz. Shusterman's pragmatism : between literature and somaesthetics 10 editions published in in English and held by 1, WorldCat member libraries worldwide "This book is the first essay collection on Richard Shusterman, the foremost representative of contemporary pragmatist aesthetics, a philosopher whose books have been translated into more than fifteen languages.
The 12 essays, which cover the wide-ranging scope of Shusterman's pragmatist thought, divide into three sections: Literary Theory and Philosophy of Art; Epistemology, Metaphysics, Ethics, and Politics; and Somaesthetics. Written by an international group of authors from different philosophical perspectives, the book's essays not only provide a good introduction to Shusterman's innovative pragmatist theories, but show their useful applications to important and controversial topics in philosophy, politics, religious and gender studies, the arts, and somaesthetics.
The book also includes two new texts by Shusterman: an introductory essay in which he explains the trajectory of his intellectual development and a detailed response to the other contributors, which closes the book. Discussing modernity : a dialogue with Martin Jay by Dorota Koczanowicz 9 editions published between and in English and held by WorldCat member libraries worldwide "Martin Jay is one of America's leading intellectual historians.
His work spans almost all important questions concerning the subject of modernity. Outstanding Polish scholars engage in a dialogue with Jay's work, discussing significant problems of modernity and postmodernity.
The book offers a broad panorama of contemporary thought approached from various angles. It is also a unique exercise of intercultural intellectual dialogue covering many areas from literature to politics.
The book also includes an essay on photography by Martin Jay and his detailed response to the other contributors, which has the character of an extended conversation with them.
The book can serve as an assessment of the uptake of Jay's ideas, and equally well as a general introduction to the genealogy of modernity and postmodernity" Pozycja smaku : jedzenie w granicach sztuki by Dorota Koczanowicz Book 2 editions published in in Polish and held by 3 WorldCat member libraries worldwide.

Beyond Taste 1 edition published in in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide Abstract : Flouting the principles of 18 th -century aesthetics, Daniel Spoerri fuses physiological taste and aesthetic taste.
Food and eating have provided the major axis of Spoerri's projects throughout the many years of his artistic pursuits. He has staged several banquets, which have proved important hallmarks of art history.
A restaurant-and gallery-owner, he has regularly put on display the celebrated "snare-pictures"--Compositions of food rests and meal remnants. Dinner as such is a pure performance that spans only as long as people eat and can never be replicated in the same form.
The remains are what is usually discarded, both after dinner and after a performance, but they are also the only remnants left, representing nostalgia and a desire to preserve what cannot possibly be perpetuated. Spoerri explores the limits of taste and possibilities of preserving it, at the same time interrogating the limits of art. Spoerri's art poses an ontological challenge to the identity of artworks which refuse to relinquish their embedment in the everyday.
What is it that makes the everyday a meal mutate into an artwork a performance? I intend to answer this question drawing on pragmatist perspectives, which interrogate the relation between experience and action in the context of artwork.
