Objectives: This study would like to investigate the in vitro antioxidant activity through 2,2-diphenylpicrylhydrazyl assay and in vitro xanthine oxidase activity of the bulbs. This study performs in vivo assays to study the antihyperuricemic activity and antioxidant in the hyperuricemic rat through plasma malondialdehyde measurement. Method: The study was conducted by testing the fresh bulbs of bawang tiwai Eleutherine palmifolia L. Allopurinol and Vitamin C were used as positive control for the antihyperuricemic assay and antioxidant assay, respectively. Other chemical substances were also used in this study. Results: The results show that the levels of uric acid were measured using spectrophotometer with dichloro-hydroxybenzen sulfonate Biolabo a as reagent.

This study aims to determine the growth pattern of Dayak onion Eleutherine palmifolia Merr. The experimental design used is completely randomized design.

The parameters observed by measuring the plant variables which consist of plant height, leaf number per panicle, the number of tillers per hill, tubers wet weight, tubers dry weight, and the content of bioactive compounds. All data observations were collaborated, processed, and presented in graphs and images so as to give an idea of the growth pattern of Dayak onion.

The results showed that the best growth pattern is occured in sandy mineral soil with 20 weeks of DAS days after sowing. On the other hand, the highest content of bioactive compounds was found in the Eleutherine of Dayakonion at the age of 18 DAS. For the growth of the onion crop dayak is recommended using sandy mineral soil media types and content of bioactive compounds was found in the Eleutherine of Dayakonion at the age of 18 DAS.

Merr; Synonym: Eleutherine americana L. Merr from family Iridaceae is widely found and grown in Kalimantan island. This plant is trusted to treat various diseases. Objective: The present study aims to determine the effect of blood glucose reduction from bulbs of Bawang Dayak based on the use of different extraction methods using oral glucose tolerance test. Method: Dried sample was extracted with methanol using maceration, reflux, and Soxhlet method, respectively. The measurement of blood glucose reduction was performed using oral glucose tolerance test in vivo method and was analyzed using statistical comparison Two-Way-ANOVA.
