DESPECKLE SCANNED PDF

If you're scanning very low-quality documents, Readiris will not be able to recognize them properly. The reason for this is that Readiris works by converting pictures of text characters into actual text characters. If your documents are too dark, the characters fade into one another and create black spots. If your documents are too light, the text characters might be broken. Consequently, Readiris will not be able to recognize them. This option is selected by default.

I'm using 8. I looked around the batch process menus, but couldn't find any way to run the function on more than one PDF at a time. These forums are now Read Only. Hi folks - just came upon this board looking for some help, so here goes: I need to find a way to setup a batch process which will run the Optimize Scanned PDF function on a number of PDFs.

Is this possible? Thanks very much! My Product Information: Acrobat Pro 8. Registered: Mar 1 Posts: One or many PDFs can be processed with it. I've used it a number of times. Perhaps the "searchable image" OCR would help for despeckle.

The specific command we're looking for is "Optimize scanned PDF". Unfortunately this command is not available in Acro Pro 8. I have the same issue. Will Acrobat Help does not address Despeckle under the Searchable Image topic this may also be done to some extent when using Searchable Image.

But, having never done any focused testing I'll be the first to say the Despeckle may not occur at all.

Using "Optimize Scanned PDF" to batch deskew/despeckle

In this exercise you use Despeckle to clean up raster images and to remove scanning artifacts from an image. Despeckle removes speckles and spots on images scanned from dirty or faded drawings. You can apply the Despeckle utility to the entire image or to a small region. Open the drawing file for this exercise. Remove speckles from the image. This example shows an area of the image that contains many speckles.

Exercise S2: Cleaning Up Images Using Despeckle

Notice how the light areas get brighter, but the gradation in the purple mid-tones of the background is less smooth. As you move the Dark and Light sliders, the mid-tones move in unison illustrated above but can be adjusted independently illustrated below. As you move the mid-tone slider to left into the dark areas, the mid-tones get lighter. The background gradation is becoming very coarse. As you move the mid-tone slider to the right you are adding more dark areas to the middle tones. In this case, removing the detail in the stone and very little gradation in the background. The objective is to create an image with areas that are not to dark or too light and too have detail in the mid-tone areas.
